Germany denies entry to Liverpool for Champions League match

Germany did not allow the British representative Liverpool team to enter the country due to new type of corona virus (Covid-19) measures, which will be a guest at Leipzig on February 16 in the last 16 rounds of the UEFA Champions League.

The German News Agency (DPA) cited a report on the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stating that the Federal Police Service rejected the Leipzig club’s special request for its rival Liverpool to enter the country.

It was stated that the ministry pointed out that the regulation adopted by the German government a week ago for entry into the country foresees very few exceptions, and the Federal Police reported to the Leipzig club that the situation in question was not an exception.

Last week, the German government decided to ban the entry of passengers from 7 countries where Covid-19 species, which are mutated and spread faster, until February 17, and included the UK in this list.

According to reports in the German press, the Leipzig team should make a statement to UEFA until Monday, February 8, on whether the match will be played or not.

It was stated that among the options, the match was played on the neutral ground.
