World-renowned tennis player Roger Federer has decided not to participate in the Australian Open, the first grand slam of the tennis season scheduled for February.

Tony Godsick, Roger Federer’s manager, said the Swiss would not join Australia for a healthier spin. Godsick stated that they will meet with Federer next week and hold a meeting for the tournaments after February.

Stating that Federer decided not to participate in the Australian Open, Godsick said, “Roger Federer has made strong progress for several months. After speaking to his team, Federer said that the best decision for him was to participate in tournaments after the Australian Open.”

The Swiss racket was injured when he faced Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January 2020. The 39-year-old did not take part in any official tournament for the rest of the year.

The Australian Open Tennis Tournament was postponed for 3 weeks due to corona virus and it was decided to hold the tournament on February 3, 2021.
