Villas-Boas: retire all 10 numbers for Maradona

Following the news of Maradona’s death, which drowned the whole world, the most interesting suggestion came from Andre Villas-Boas, Marseille’s coach.

Speaking at the press conference after the Porto defeat, the Portuguese coach argued that the greatest example of respect for Maradona would be the decision by FIFA to retire the numbers 10 in all teams.

Boas’ words are as follows:

“I want FIFA to retire the number 10 jersey from all teams. This would be the greatest respect we can do for his legacy. Maradona is an incredible loss for the world of football. Let’s do it for him.”
